About Us

BonDeCroft Elementary School, located in White County, Tennessee, was formed in 1954 by consolidating Bon Air, DeRossett, and Ravenscroft schools, with the name combining parts of the original communities: Bon (from Bon Air), De (from DeRossett), and Croft (from Ravenscroft), meaning "good of the land". The name was chosen by former Superintendent Beecher Cooley and his wife, Clara Belle, to honor the merged communities, and the land was purchased in early 1954 for the new school.

The school's history is tied to the consolidation movement in White County to create larger, more efficient schools, bringing together students from distinct, historically significant mining towns.

While we are deeply rooted in our 1954 origins, BonDeCroft continues to evolve to meet the needs of our students.

To better serve our growing student population and provide enhanced learning environments, a major addition to the school was completed in 2024. This new addition represents our commitment to providing high-quality facilities while staying true to the "small school" heart that has defined us for over 70 years. Today, the spirit of the "good of the land" lives on at BonDeCroft, where our students and staff work together to grow a brighter future for our community.
